India Regional Info

Legal and data-protection information specific to using Upaadhyay in India.

Last updated: 24 October 2026Applies to: upaadhyay.com and the Upaadhyay platform

Upaadhyay serves schools, colleges and universities across India. This page collects the India-specific legal information in one place.

1. Who provides the service

Upaadhyay is an online faculty recruitment platform operated from India for users in India. These pages together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy apply to everyone who uses the Platform. This page adds information that is specific to India and should be read with them.

2. Governing law and courts

Your use of the Platform is governed by the laws of India. Subject to any right you have by law to go to another forum, the courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from the Platform. We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to settle a problem informally.

3. Data protection in India

We process personal data in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), as they apply to us.

  • Our role: for the personal data you give us to create and use your account, Upaadhyay decides why and how it is processed (a "data fiduciary" under the DPDP Act). You are the "data principal".
  • Consent and notice: we ask for your consent for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy, and you can withdraw it at any time.
  • Your rights: to get a summary of your data, to correct or update it, to have it erased, to have your grievances addressed, and to nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or cannot act for yourself.
  • Children: the Platform is for people aged 18 and over.
  • Data location: some of our service providers (for example for file storage) may keep data on servers outside India. We choose providers that protect data to a standard comparable to our Privacy Policy.

To use any of these rights, see the "Your rights and choices" section of the Privacy Policy.

4. Grievance Officer

As required by the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules under it, you can send complaints about your data, your account or content on the Platform to our Grievance Officer:

Grievance Officer, Upaadhyay
Email: [email protected] (write "Grievance" in the subject line)
Website: upaadhyay.com

We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days. Please include your registered email, a description of the problem and any supporting documents. If you are not satisfied, you may approach the appropriate authority under Indian law, including the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.

5. Hiring and employment laws

Institutions that post jobs must follow all Indian laws and rules that apply to them as employers and as education providers, including labour and employment laws and the rules of the bodies that regulate them (for example UGC, AICTE, NCTE, CBSE, state education boards or a university). This includes laws against discrimination, such as the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Upaadhyay is a platform, not an employer. Employment terms are agreed directly between the Institution and the candidate, and we do not verify every statement made in a job posting.

6. Prices and taxes

The Platform is currently free for Faculty. New Institutions get a free introductory period (see the Terms). If we introduce paid services, prices will be shown in Indian rupees (INR) and will state whether GST or any other applicable tax is included or added, before you pay.

7. Reporting fraud and cybercrime

If someone asks you for money for a job, impersonates an Institution, or you suspect a scam, please:

  • stop all payments and do not share OTPs, passwords or bank details;
  • report it to us at [email protected] so we can act on the account or job;
  • report financial cyber fraud to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or call the helpline 1930, and contact your local police if needed.

8. Language

The Platform and these legal pages are provided in English. If we offer a translation, it is for convenience only, and if there is any difference, the English version applies.
