Community Guidelines

How we keep Upaadhyay professional, honest and safe for faculty and institutions.

Last updated: 24 October 2026Applies to: upaadhyay.com and the Upaadhyay platform

Upaadhyay is a professional community. These guidelines explain how we expect everyone to behave, how to report a problem, and what happens when someone breaks the rules.

1. Why these guidelines exist

Upaadhyay exists so that Faculty and Institutions can find each other and hire with trust. That only works when everyone behaves professionally and honestly. These Community Guidelines set out what is expected of everyone who uses the Platform, and what we do when those expectations are not met.

They apply to everything you post or send on Upaadhyay: profiles, documents, job postings, applications, invitations and messages. They are part of our Terms & Conditions.

2. Be respectful and professional

  • Treat every candidate, recruiter and administrator with courtesy, whether you are offering a job or turning one down.
  • Do not harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone.
  • Do not post hateful, abusive or demeaning content, including content that attacks people because of religion, caste, community, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, region or language.
  • Keep messages relevant to hiring and professional opportunities. Do not send unwanted personal, romantic or sexual messages.

3. Be honest and authentic

  • Use your real identity. Do not create fake or duplicate accounts, or pretend to be another person, Institution or Upaadhyay staff member.
  • Keep qualifications, experience, publications, affiliations and accreditation accurate. Do not upload forged, edited or borrowed certificates and documents.
  • Institutions must not claim a recognition, ranking, affiliation or approval they do not hold.
  • Do not post fake reviews, endorsements or statistics, and do not mislead anyone about who you are or what a role involves.

4. Fair and transparent hiring

  • Genuine jobs only. Post only vacancies that really exist and that you intend to fill. Do not post "ghost" jobs only to collect profiles.
  • Be clear. Describe the role, qualifications, location, type of employment and pay range as accurately as you can, and keep deadlines up to date. Close or remove jobs that are filled.
  • Be fair. Do not discriminate unlawfully in a job posting or hiring decision. Requirements must relate to the job.
  • No payment for jobs. No one may ask a candidate for money, a "registration fee", a security deposit, training charges or purchases in return for a job, interview or shortlist. Do not ask for bank, card, OTP or password details.
  • Respect candidates' time. Respond to applicants where you can, and do not use the Platform only to collect free work, assignments or lesson plans.
  • Do not hold original documents. Ask for copies for verification, and do not insist on keeping a candidate's original certificates.

5. Protect other people's information

  • Use candidate and Institution information only for the hiring purpose it was shared for.
  • Do not share, sell, publish or screenshot other people's profiles, resumes, certificates, contact details or messages without their permission.
  • Do not collect or ask for sensitive details that a hiring decision does not need, such as government ID numbers, bank details, health information or family details.
  • Do not try to find out information about someone that they have chosen not to share.

See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data.

6. No spam, scams or misuse of the Platform

  • Do not send bulk, repetitive or unrelated messages, or advertise products, courses, coaching, loans, investments or other services.
  • Do not run or promote scams, "pay to work" schemes, pyramid or multi-level marketing, gambling or get-rich-quick offers.
  • Do not scrape, copy or bulk-download profiles or jobs, or use bots or automated tools without our written permission.
  • Do not try to break or bypass security, rate limits or access controls, or access accounts and data that are not yours.

7. Illegal, unsafe or inappropriate content

The following is never allowed on Upaadhyay and may be reported to the authorities:

  • content that is illegal under Indian law, or that helps others break the law;
  • content that sexualises or endangers children in any way, or any sexual or pornographic content;
  • graphic violence, threats, or content that encourages self-harm or violence against any person or group;
  • malware, phishing or other harmful code or links;
  • content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights.

Please also keep profiles and postings free of unrelated political, religious or personal campaigning and of anything that is not relevant to professional life.

8. Reporting a problem

If you see a fake profile, a suspicious job, a request for money, harassment or any content that breaks these guidelines, please tell us right away at [email protected]. Include the name of the profile or Institution, the job or message involved, the date, and screenshots if you have them. We treat reports seriously and keep the reporter's identity confidential as far as we can.

In an emergency, or if you have lost money to fraud, also report it to the police or on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in, helpline 1930). See India Regional Info.

9. What happens when guidelines are broken

Our team reviews reports and, where needed, reviews accounts, jobs and documents. Depending on how serious the issue is, whether it was deliberate and whether it has happened before, we may:

  • ask you to correct or remove the content;
  • remove the content or job posting;
  • limit features such as messaging, posting or searching;
  • reject, suspend or block an account or an Institution; and
  • share information with law enforcement or regulators where the law requires or allows it.

We may act without prior notice when there is a risk to people or the Platform. Where we reject an Institution or restrict an account, we will tell you the reason where we can, so you know what to fix.

10. Appeals

If you think we made a mistake, write to [email protected] within 30 days with your registered email and any information that supports your case. A different member of the team will look at it again and reply to you. Our decision after review is final, except for any rights you have under law.

11. Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines as the Platform grows. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be announced on the Platform or by email.
